Hi, I'm Kristi! I have been working as a counsellor for six years. I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and am a Registered Counselling Therapist with Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and am working towards certification as a Play Therapist through the Canadian Association of Play Therapy.
As a therapist, I feel passionate about supporting children, adolescents and their families in navigating life's challenges. I choose approaches that I believe will be appropriate for your unique child and situation as I do not believe there is "one-size-fits-all" solution when it comes to healing.
I value the power of attachment and family connection, pulling often on practices informed by Theraplay and Filial Therapy. I am a Registered Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator. I believe children have an innate ability to move towards healing if given the right environment with a trusted, non-judgemental adult, which is why I utilize child-centred play therapy as well as directive play therapy approaches. I am a Certified AutPlay Therapy Provider, providing specialized play therapy approaches for neurodiverse children and teens.
Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband and kids, playing piano, exploring new places and reading.
