Laura Blois

Hi, I’m Laura!

I began my career as a teacher in both private and public schools across Canada and internationally. Because I recognized the need for mental health care for my students, I returned to school for a Masters of Education in Counselling at Acadia. I am now a Registered Counselling Therapist (Candidate) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. I have been serving as a School Counsellor in Truro supporting children and youth ages 5-18 years old.

Whether you are a struggling child, adolescent or caregiver, you no longer need to face your challenges alone. I offer counselling for individuals and families with a focus on communicating feelings, regulating emotions, repairing conflicts and supporting the development of secure and loving relationships. We will work collaboratively every step of the way to move in a meaningful direction towards your goals. I will do this in an atmosphere of safety and connection where you will feel seen and heard with respect.

I bring to my sessions the values of playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy. I draw upon a variety of techniques from: Attachment-Focused Family Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Sand Tray Therapy and Narrative Therapy.

Outside of the office, I love living the farm life with my husband and three children.
