Laura Blois

Hi, I’m Laura!

I began my career as a teacher in both private and public schools across Canada and internationally. Because I recognized the need for mental health care for my students, I returned to school for a Masters of Education in Counselling at Acadia University. I am now a Registered Counselling Therapist (Candidate) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. I have been three years experience working as a School Counsellor in Truro supporting children and youth ages 5-18 years old.

I currently offer counselling with adolescents and their families with a focus on communicating feelings, regulating emotions, repairing conflicts and supporting the development of secure and loving relationships. In therapy, you will no longer need to face your challenges alone as I will work collaboratively every step of the way to move in a meaningful direction towards your goals. I will do this in an atmosphere of safety and connection where you will feel seen and heard with respect.

I bring to my sessions the values of playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy. I draw upon a variety of techniques from: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (Mindfulness-based CBT), Polyvagal Theory, Sensorimotor Arousal and Regulation Therapy, and Sand Tray Therapy.

Outside of the office, I enjoy living the farm life with my husband and three children.
